The prospect of not being able to pay for housing is frightening. Yet that is a reality that many people face daily. 211 Service Navigators know the financial programs that can help people who are struggling to pay their bills.
The 211 Service Navigator took a call from a woman who was facing financial hardship. She was waiting for her Employment Insurance (EI) benefits to start and had no savings left to pay the rent. She was looking for any resources that would help her situation.
The Service Navigator empathized with the caller’s situation and brainstormed solutions with her. He provided a resource that could help with rent payments for which the caller was very grateful. The Service Navigator also provided a referral to help pay utilities; the caller said they were very pleased with this.
The caller stated that she was feeling much better now that she had some leads to follow up on and some options. She was also grateful that 211 was available when she needed it and happy with the service.
