Each week we will post a summary of interesting and representative 211 calls. This week, we have connections from Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick.
Manitoba:
Travelling during COVID can make anyone nervous and confused. 211 Service Navigators are there to help the public get trustworthy information.
A senior called 211. She needed to travel soon, but she was not sure where to start. She did not have access to the Internet, and she did not have a lot of information on what she would need in order to travel during COVID. She had heard of COVID testing for travel, but was unsure of how to get this done.
The 211 Service Navigator gave the caller general information from government websites about travelling during COVID and what was needed. He found a location that the senior could access for the test needed for travel. Finally, the senior needed the number for reservations for Air Canada, and since the senior did not have Internet, the Service Navigator was happy to provide it. He let her know that airline staff would have additional information on what to expect during her travels and their requirements. The senior was very pleased with the service of 211 and said that “211 is the best thing since strawberry shortcake!”
