Caller Story – Nov. 16th, 2020

Each week we will post a summary of interesting and representative 211 calls. This week, we have connections from New Brunswick:

A father called on behalf of his daughter who he identified as having mental health issues. His daughter is 26 years old and currently living at home. He was looking for an agency that would help his daughter find affordable housing so that she could live independently in the community.

He was referred to New Brunswick Social Development in Saint John to see if she qualifies for Social Assistance and Subsidized Housing.

In addition, the father mentioned that his daughter was receiving weekly counselling support but he was hoping for additional services that his daughter could also receive. The Community Resource Navigator suggested to the father connect with his daughter’s Social Worker could request additional services such as a Personal Support Worker who would be able to support them at home. In addition, information was provided on the Canadian Mental Health Association New Brunswick for employment counselling service. Once all the information was shared with the father, he said: “It’s more information than I thought I would get and it’s all good information. Thank you, this was very helpful.”
